Transparency is Important to Us

Meritum Wealth Management is built on trust and relationships. That is why we strive to be as open and transparent with our clients as possible. Below are the answers to a few of the most commonly asked questions that we, as advisors, get. If you have any further questions, please give us a call and we will be more than happy to answer them for you!

  • Wealth Management Services: Wealth management includes both financial planning and investment management. For our Wealth Management clients, our fees are as follows:

Investable assets below $1 million: 0.95% per year

Investable assets between $1 million - $2 million: 0.80% per year

Investable assets above $2 million: 0.65% per year

All of our fees are negotiable.

Wealth management clients with investable assets over $500,000 are eligible to receive free tax preparation on an annual basis (using one of our trusted tax professionals, or we will cover the cost charged by your existing tax professional).

In addition to free tax preparation on an annual basis, wealth management clients with investable assets over $1 million are eligible to receive a free comprehensive estate plan, including a trust(s), will(s), and power of attorney(s). (Services provided by one of our trusted referral partners, or your existing attorneys).

Insurance Services: Insurance services includes health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, disability insurance, long-term care insurance, and annuities. Anytime we help clients find a suitable insurance policy for their needs, we are paid a commission. Since we are fiduciary advisors, we strive to disclose any conflicts of interest. Any insurance commissions are paid to us directly from the issuing insurance company, and not out of your pocket.

Business Retirement Plan Services: Business retirement plan services includes the implementation and management of your business’ retirement and benefits plan. There are many types of retirement plans that can be utilized for your business’ needs - with various costs and fees associated with each different type.

For business owners seeking retirement plan services our investment management fee is 0.50% of investable assets within the plan per year + any additional fees and costs associated with the administration of your business’ specific retirement plan.

  • We do not charge any fees for an initial consultation. Even better, we do not charge any fees until you decide you trust us enough to become a client - no matter how many times we meet.

Our goal is to build long-term relationships with clients. We want to get to know you and be sure that we are good for each other. The best way to ensure that we will be a good fit for each other is to get to know each other first. For that reason, we do not charge a fee for initial consultations.

  • We believe that your life savings shouldn’t be someone else’s quarterly sales goal. As Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm, we are legally required to put your best interests ahead of our own at all times, which is frequently not the case at large firms. Our independence offers us the ability to offer more services, unlimited flexibility, and conflict-free advice without having to meet the “sales quotas” of corporate management.

For the best interest of your clients and their savings, we use a 3rd party custodian (Interactive Brokers) for our clients’ accounts, allowing us the same investment services and capabilities of a larger firm, but with more flexibility and a personal touch from a personal advisor.

  • While it is true that some people may be capable of handling the complex tasks of keeping up with their own investments, tax planning, estate planning, and company benefit plans on their own - but the truth is that most individuals find it either far too complicated or simply just don’t have the time, to deal with these matters on their own.

You do not need a financial advisor, personal trainer, nutritionist, accountant, or travel agent - but they can certainly help you achieve your goals faster, easier, and more efficiently.

In addition to investment allocation, active rebalancing, and tax & estate planning, advisors also act as behavioral coaches to help reduce bad decisions and increase good decisions, which can help you achieve your goals faster.

  • To show our commitment, we consistently strive to pursue further education and designations to further enhance the knowledge, services, and strategies we are able to implement on behalf of our clients. Below you can read about the current designations that are held.
